I had the best weekend. Really. I wasn't looking forward to it because it meant being away from BF for the second weekend in a row. It also meant giving up my weekend with Primogeniture and Secundogeniture which I am always loathe to do. Anyway, this is one of those rare occasions where it was all worth it. Why? Because I was here.
So you see, it was all about the boys, even though I wasn't with them. I've signed up to be the Assistant Scout Master for my sons' Boy Scout Troop. Connecticut Yankee Council held their semi-annual Leadership Training session this weekend. Bruce and John were the most amazing trainers. They did a great job teaching us all the basics and I learned so many wonderful things that are useful, not just for scouting, but for life in general.
Can you spot me to the left of the flag in the second row with a red handkerchief on my head? Can you believe I forgot my hat? I bought this map/handkerchief to keep the sun off my head. Although it's extremely hard to see, I do have my camouflage Go Knit pouch at my waist and did manage to knit a little bit on my brown socks during my Boy Scout Leadership Training. See?
Here I am in front of my tent knitting my brown sock just before our patrol broke down our camp. I had the best patrol and learned as much from them as I did from the trainers. Thanks Mark, Kari, Jerry, Allen and Ben! I hope to see you soon in other Council-wide scouting events. Now I'm an officially trained Boy Scout Leader. If my boys stick with it, I'll be with them knitting in the woods in my Boy Scout uniform for the next 10 years or so.
You won't believe where Primogeniture and I are going to be next weekend! I won't tell you. You'll just have to wait and see.
