Last month at Saturday kNit Live, Marcia showed us how to wind balls of yarn by hand into neat litte center pull balls. See? It's not as quick as winding them with the swift and ball winder, but this little trick using your forefinger and twisting the ball on your forefinger every few wraps, sure does the trick when you're on the train, plain or automobile.

The other options is to get a noste pinne. If you do a google search one should come up. I got one with my spinning wheel and it is awesome when no ball winder is to be found. Although, you could probably use a short piece of dowel instead.

You know what you can do with that skill? I joined a swap through swapbot where you swap hand wound balls of yarn that you tuck treasures into like beads, vintage ribbon, buttons, etc. I'm so excited about it!
