Festival of Trees - Sioux City, Iowa
As many of you know, I have joined the Board of Jackson Recovery Centers. Today is one of the best parts of being on this Board. It's the Festival of Trees fundraiser auction hosted by the Sioux City Jaycees.
Jackson Recovery Center is the organization my parents started in the 1970s when there was a need in Iowa to help teens recover from drug and alcohol abuse. At that time it was one of only four centers in the entire country focused on adolescents! Now the Center has grown to help all ages and all addictions. It's also become my favorite charity. Tonight in Sioux City, Iowa is the annual Festival of Trees at the Terra Centre. The fully decorated Christmas Trees will be auctioned off to raise money for the daycare at the Jackson Recovery Center Women & Children's Center. My sister took some pictures of the lovely trees for me so I could participate from a distance.

If you can't make it to Sioux City in person, but would like to help, here's the link for direct donations.
Please keep your fingers crossed for a very successful auction. It will mean so much to so many people! I just learned now that there's a mitten tree (drat! I missed that earlier). In the meantime, enjoy the trees.
Good luck!

I hope it's a success!

Wouldn't it be fun to decorate a tree next year with items knit by people who read and love your blog? Could be baby hats & booties, mittens, socks, etc.
I'd love to participate.
See you soon!
