Z is for Zzyxx Road. BF and I drove right by this sign in August on our drive from Los Angeles to Las Vegas. I couldn't believe it. I had to take a picture of the sign to save for December's post. This was also the same trip where we paid over $6 a gallon for gasoline.
Now this is a word I'd LOVE to play in Scrabble or one of those other word games. I wonder how many points zzyzx would be worth?
You know how hard it was to keep that little surprise all to myself for over four months? I simply can't believe I made it through the entire year. Thanks Vicki for hooking me into this fun endeavor to keep me on my toes. It's been a fun journey.

Great Sign. I love fun signs. We saw loads in Scotland. How about: "Caution: Heavy Plant Crossing". Can't you just see a rubber tree sprouting legs out of the bottom of his pot and sneaking across the road?! We never did learn the exact meaning of that one. Or how about driving on a curvy, hilly, narrow single-track (but two way) road. As you approach the curve, there is a lovely cottage in the woods to the right and you just the top of a sign that reads, "Drive slowly. Young...." as you come around the curve you see the rest of the sign and it reads "....Pheasants." I had to do a double take! One more and I'll stop although I could write an entire blog on great signage. This is from Webster Groves Missouri. I pulled into a small parking lot behind some buildings one evening after most stores were closed but had to back out. The sign that stopped me read: "Private Lot. Salt of the Earth Only." Now what would you think? How do you know if you can park there? I suspec the "salt of the earth" don't know they are.

That is awesome!

It wouldn't work in Scrabble, because there's only one "z" in the entire game. More's the pity.

Except that it wouldn't work if you are playing Scrabble with one of those by-the-rules players. It's a proper noun. ;-)
We have one of those by-the-rules types in our family. It eliminates an awful lot of fun words!

Wow! and Wow! (that's for the name of the street and the $6 gas)
Any idea of the origin of that place name? Very odd.

This is the most interesting Z I've seen. I wonder how it's pronounced--one syllable or two?
