I knit two pairs of socks for Secundogeniture for his hospital visit. One he wore the night before surgery and this pair he wore the day he got out. Otherwise he had to wear those hospital socks with the sticky soles for safety reasons. These are the socks with arch support I posted last week for Finishing Friday.
Yes - I made them big. Secundogeniture is already wearing a Men's size 9 at the tender age of ten. I can only imagine how much his paws are going to continue to grow. His father is a 12 1/2 - 13. So I decided to knit these a little bit big so he could grow into them. I also wasn't familiar with this yarn, and wasn't too keen on the idea of them shrinking and going immediately to his younger cousin (like a recent pair). This could require purchasing 2 skeins of 100 g sock yarn in the near future.
I started to knit a pair of Get Well Socks for Primogeniture, too, but who am I kidding? He doesn't like handknit socks. I'm still going to finish them. You know, just in case he changes his mind.

That is a great pose! Size 9 at age 10? Holy cow! Good thing you made them a little big. =)

I give you so much credit for knitting those beautiful socks. I haven't tried that yet, as I'm still working on necklines of sweaters. :)

Socks look comfy for a visit to the hospital. My sister in-law the avid quilter is now making purses. Her daughter informed her that she didn't want anything but name brand. So I say, don't stress too. Cause sooner or later, the lamb will come back to the fold, and......want a pair of socks!

Finish them for Primogeniture, but at the rate Secundogeniture is going, they'll fit him soon enough. He does have some big feet, just like my 10 year old, who is sporting a woman's size 9. She complained to the doctor at her last visit and asked what it meant to have feet so big. The doctor looked at her and said, "It means you're going to be tall." She felt better for a bit.

That son is a wise child to love his Momma's knitting. Don't stress too much about the older one, my son told me once he'd take me to the Dodger's game for Mother's Day but I couldn't bring my knitting. MMMMM....that lasted only until he moved out of his Dad's house. Now he's asking for all kinds of warm stuff! Hense the 2nd go-round on this scarf that was lost on the plane last Sunday.
Keep getting better boys!
