Since I didn't have my camera with me last weekend, you'll have to picture this. My nieces were still in town, so BF and I took them to Balducci's to get some seafood for grilling. We took a scenic route right past Martha Stewart's former Westport home. As we turned onto Turkey Hill Road South, we saw a red chicken crossing the road. Now, I'm from Iowa and my nieces are from Nebraska. You'd think that seeing something like this would be a somewhat common occurrence for us. But trust me, none of us had ever seen a chicken crossing a road and we certainly didn't expect to see it in Westport, Connecticut of all places. So I slowed down and rolled down my window (at this point, I realized I didn't actually have my camera with me). But BF leaned over and spoke to the chicken. It went something like this:

the kids loved this story and have been telling "why did the chicken cross the road" jokes ever since you told it! haha!

lol! OK, I have to admit that I once called the police department here in my small rural town because someone's chicken was loose. Sometimes folks around here have them as pets, so I thought I'd call just to report it, as it was in a strange place in the woods for a chicken to be. I think the words "it was on the other side of the road" passed my lips, and the cop then couldn't keep calm after that. We were both laughing.
But for the record, I never actually spoke to the chicken. LOL.

That's awesome! How often does one get to actually ask the chicken all these burning questions? lol
