I'm moving very slowly on my Chutes and Ladders socks because a) they're filled with cables and more importantly, b) because it's a new concept for me to learn. This is my first pair of toe up socks and I'll admit to being a little slow on the draw. That's OK. I want to get this new technique down pat.
As far as FOs go, I did manage to finish a fascinating book this weekend - The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society by Mary Ann Shaffer and Annie Barrows
I was swept away to the island of Guernsey in the 1940s for a time. I found the book enjoyable. Of course, the title was so catchy, it made me want to read more. I don't feel the Potato Peel Pie got its fair share of the story and wish it had played a larger role. Don't you agree?

I downloaded a sample of that book on my iPod... it's in my queue to read this summer!!
Glad you and many of your readers liked it!!
The socks are lookin' good!!

I agree, that book was a delight to read! And I've commented to so many that I learned about a different facet of WWII that I hadn't been aware of - all the while enjoying a charming book. :)
I highly recommend "The School of Essential Ingredients" as another charmer.

I also read this book recently and enjoyed it a lot. But I was hoping for a recipe that was spelled out a little more than the description of the pie. I liked the technique of telling the story through letters.

I have this book in my "to read" list. I'm looking forward to it. Have a great day.

Oh I loved that book - I LOVED IT! What fabulous characters, fully rounded without being cliche. Didn't you want to live there and be friends with all of them?

I too enjoyed this book...never realized Guernsey was occupied during WWII. You're right though I was half expecting they'd have the potato peel pie recipe.
Just started The Art of Racing in the Rain. Hope to finish it by our Friday seaming session.
