Oops - I was gone all week with no internet capability. In today's world, that's a rare feat. But not for me. I was off having the time of my life at Boy Scout Camp. It rained, rained and rained some more the entire time we were there. Yet somehow we all managed to have fun. I knit my miniature vintage Boy Scout socks and game them away as thank you gifts to the staff members throughout the week.
Yes - that's one very wet camper. The sock nearly felted on the needles, just to help you gauge the amount of rain. We had several first year campers with us, and such a rainy week can present several challenges. I'm happy to say, they all had a great time and managed to come through it all with smiles on their faces.
Here we are enjoying the indoor closing campfire program (minus the actual campfire) our last night. We were dry (finally) and having a great time.
The most exciting day we had was Wednesday afternoon when an adult male black bear sauntered through our campsite. You've never seen a bunch of boys clear out their contraband food, candy and gum from their tents in a more expeditious manner. Everyone learned, once again, the importance of a bear bag.
Today is laundry day and drying out day. Most of the gear is outside in the sun. Yes, as luck would have it we got our first sunny day on the morning we checked out of Camp Swampy. Go figure. I hope you had a fun and exciting week, too.

can you point me to the pattern for those cute minature socks?

My guys were at BSA camp last week too! Lots of thunderstorms in MD, but nowhere as much rain as you had. And no bears! I love the vision of the boys tossing out all their contraband...

Whew! Nice to hear from you again. I was getting worried.
I've heard about all the rain in the northeast. I have a friend who owns a lovely garden center in Rosendale, N.Y. (If you're in the area, look up Victoria Gardens), and she has commented on all the rain.
Love the booties. Hopefully my daughter will get a new (adopted) baby in the next few months and I want to make several pair of these.
