You all know how much I love Knitting Central located right here in Westport, CT. Cynthia is amazing. She goes out of her way to bring us the hottest yarns, the most fashionable colors, and the best knitting teachers from around the world. In fact, if you've read my blog, you know that I've been fortunate enough to take knitting classes from Beth Brown Riensel, Charlene Schurch, and Lucy Neatby.
So imagine my delight to run into Charlene Schurch at the Sock Summit Market Place. We recognized each other immediately and caught up on the wonderful events going on. Charlene is working on many new patterns and books - some socks and some mittens - so stay tuned for new publications. I bet you're as excited as I am. She's such a dear. I just love the fact that she was an engineer in her former life (e.g. career). She truly does engineer socks. If you've ever seen her books (and of course, you have, right?) you are probably saying to yourself "Oh, she's an engineer. Now it makes sense!" because everything she does is so methodical and logical. She builds socks with building blocks. She explains the different methods in the different stages of constructing a sock. It's all perfectly engineered. Brilliant, right?
But my dear Charlene wasn't the only person from my LYS that I caught up with at Sock Summit. I saw Lucy Neatby and briefly said Hello - but didn't snap a picture. I did spend a great deal of time with
Trish from
Tanglewood Fiber Creations.
Here's where I found Trish when I walked into the Market Place - her favorite spot - at the spinning wheel. We chatted and she sent her best to Cynthia (everyone always does!). Then I asked about the new sock yarn she was spinning (which I knew all about since Cynthia had been hinting about it for Trish's upcoming visit to my LYS) and Trish showed me the lovely pattern.
Ah - bestill my beating heart. Look at the heart pattern peaking through the Fair Isle pattern. Isn't it precious? Of course, I bought enough yarn to knit up a pair of these beauties for me.
I think by now you can tell why I adore Cynthia and am so grateful for everything she does for us in Westport. She brings us some of the most fantastic people in the world of knitting right to our very door. We are so fortunate. We get to have these fantastic muses of the kniterati in a semi-private setting which is truly a blessing. Thanks Cynthia!
Oh wow. I like those LOTS! Details, please, details!

So much fun to see all your photos! I did make it to the marketplace yesterday and was so impressed. All the vendors had such great booths, and everyone seemed very happy to be there.
It was great to meet you in person, FINALLY, and I am looking forward to our next visit, wherever it may be! Maybe we can drag Melissa along, too!
