Ladies and Gentlemen:
Imagine if you will, an athlete who has spent his or her entire life training for a two week period; for the chance to stand on that platform for one brief moment in time; to be known as a champion.
Now imagine if you will, that same athlete, doing the proper preparation, training, planning, only to suffer an injury just before the moment of glory.
What to do? Do you press on and create more damage to your body or do you walk away knowing that you did your best and try to readjust to a normal life - not that of a champion athlete, but of a normal everyday athlete?
That's the question I've been wrestling with these past few days. Tomorrow night is the last night of the Ravelympics and Knitting Olympics. How will it end?

I will be DNF for this project, but I am consoling myself that there are more Olympics in 2012. I could tuck away this project, and resurrect it in 2012...

Don't risk injury. Better to rest now and be able to knit soon than press ahead and not be able to knit for a long while. All that matters is doing your best.

I, too, have failed the task. I signed up for Yarn Harlot's Olympics. As a fair new knitter, I chose a patterned sock that required reading a chart, both I've never done. I've also never completed anything in 17 days. Needless to say, I crashed and burned coming out of the gate.

What an unpleasant choice. I hope it turns out well; your sweater is so lovely.

Have you had an injury? I hope you're okay!
It's so hard to see the Olympic athletes fail to do their best. Like today a snowboarder didn't get out of the gate correctly. My heart goes out to them all.

Do not press on. Take a break and finish when you finish. You do not need to do more damage. ;-)

Hmmmm....for me it's going to end rather poorly, I'm afraid. Last night I couldn't understand the instructions and fell apart. (You know, the usual: "I can't do it! I'm just stupid!") After sleeping on it overnight and doing some extra homework on the internet, I discovered today that the instructions are WRONG!!
Great news!! I'm not stupid after all, just slow. So though I won't become a champion...shoot! I won't even finish!...I will have competed to the best of my ability and I will hold my head up high as I turn off the TV after the closing ceremonies and once again pick up my knitting....................
