Another week, another chemo cap. This time I used some uber-fluffy alpaca from last summer (2009)'s trip to Maine. It's from 2 alpacas - Oreo and Rubio - from Blueberry Farm in Camden, Maine.
I picked up my Vogue Knitting Caps & Hats book and selected Wendy Keel's Tasseled Pull-On Cap (minus the tassle) for my second chemo cap. I used size 4 Turbo Addis and cast on 103 sts (because the 121, 127 or 133 sts simply wouldn't work). This hat is very warm, soft and fuzzy - and will only get softer and fuzzier with wash and wear.
Silver chic - which will hopefully bring a lot of comfort and healing.
The pattern is simple yet interesting. I will definitely make this cap again. Perhaps I'll make one for me.
PS - many of you wrote to me concerned that I needed a chemo cap. I can see why you would think that given the last line of this post. Rest assured, I was only thinking of knitting a warm winter hat for me using this same pattern. Thanks for your notes!

Well, I guess this could be considered prying since you don't know me, except as an occasional commenter, but since you mentioned on the blog that you were considering making one of the hats you are knitting as chemo caps for yourself, I just wanted to send a note with hopes that you are well and only wanting the hat as a way to keep cozy and warm. It has turned pretty chilly in CT, so I'm sure those hats are being well appreciated! Take care.

Loving all the hats. Not a great reason to have to knit them, but a WONDERFUL gift for the recipients.
