I've decided that it's time to fight the middle-age rut. It's time to put my knitting needles down for a bit and focus a bit more on a healthier habit. If I spent a fraction of my knitting time on diet and exercise, I think I'd be a much more well-balanced individual.
So I hope to get back into my fighting shape - ooh rah - and have been watching my diet and exercise program vigorously. It's already paying off. I feel better. I'm losing weight. I'm slowly building some muscle - and boy are my hamstrings tight!!! I'm also throwing in a bit of yoga at a wonderful new yoga studio in town. I just love those stretches. I always feel so invigorated after either a workout or a yoga session... so why don't I do this more often?
Well now I will. How about you? Are you on a health kick? Want to join me? Let's keep our bodies in motion and see if we can walk/swim/run/bike a little bit each day. My goal is to work back up to a 3-mile-run in 30 minutes or less. I can do it. Can you?
Please excuse me now. The treadmill is calling my name.

Go you!!! I've been getting back into "fighting shape" myself - having my hips get bad and then having them both replaced ended up with me needing to loose some weight and get back into shape. My back was bothering me some this winter and the dr told me my problem is just needing to work on core strenth....so I finally got off my duff and started hitting the gym and it's made a HUGE difference. It does really cut into my knitting time, I have to admit.

Oh Jennifer.....I have been walking and riding my bike more. The nicer warmer weather is really helping. Cannot run anymore due to bladder repair and NEVER wanting that surgery again. Nothing that involves running, jumping etc. BUT I can walk and walk and ride. I need to stop putting everything I see into my mouth..>!!!
BUT I wont give up my precious knitting!!! GOt to do it too! SO, something has to give....HOUSEWORK IT IS!

Major Yoga-er? Doesn't sound quite right.

Go Jennifer. I too am on a health kick. I've already lost weight and feel really good. Exercise has never been hard for me, but controlling what I put in my mouth is another story! I look forward to seeing "less" of you!!

I'll walk and do yoga with you :) I need to move my body very badly, I loathe how it feels to me.

Your scouts need to look to their laurels - they'll need to keep up! Best wishes!

Ditto!! That's exactly what I'm doing. Let's go!

You certainly have a "can do" attitude and that is what it takes to be successful.
Winter is when I tend to slack off of exercise, but now that warmer days are here it is easier to get out and move the body.
Keep up the good work!

I paid my YMCA dues for the summer and promised myself I wouldn't waste the money! I'm trying to go three days per week but being careful not to overdo it at the same time! It is making a big difference already.

I would assume you figured out how to knit and use the treadmill at the same time.
Knitting is a great cool down though.
