This year is my third year in charge of running the Friends of Scouting fundraising campaign for Pomperaug district. It's hard work, but I really love it. This year was so much easier because I had a cohort who made it fun. I wasn't alone. It wasn't such an onerous task. Joyce and I got together during the January ski trip and while the kids skiied, we sat in the lodge with our wifi and list and emailed the 80+ units about having their Friends of Scouting presentation. It took a long time but with the year half over, we're doing really well.
Last night I hosted a thank you dinner for my team (and we also had a phon-a-thon and raised even more money!). I grilled sausage, chicken, steaks, corn, salad, potatoes, berries, cookies and chocolate mousse. Families came. Adults had fun. Kids swam and played (and had fun, too). It was a great night.

And since our dynamic duo team started in the ski lodge, where Joyce was all decked out in her favorite color - purple - I thought it was appropriate to make her a thank you gift of Susie Rogers' Reading Mitts in purple malabrigo yarn. She loved them. Don't they look great on her? Now we're all set for another great year of funding Scouting and the adventure within.
Thanks to everyone who helped make it a great year!
