What better way to cool down and have fun than to spend the day on the river? At the Summit Bechtel Reserve, that's exactly what the youth did. One day, they got the chance to go white water rafting on the New River Gorge. We did the calmer Class II and Class III rapids - which are fun - wet - and wild.
The day started with everyone watching a safety brief about white water rafting.
Then everyone loaded the buses and drove to the river where the real fun began.

The action shots taken on the rapids are from an official photographer - Whitewater Photo. The Boy Scout photos are password protected... but you can see some public pictures of other groups by clicking HERE. This will give you a feel for the more exciting rapids on the New River.

Cooling down while rafting. WONDERFUL!
When the Scouts returned back to camp, Dianna, Richard and I welcomed them with a bubble wall.
The best part was asking them how they liked the rafting. We got nothing but resounding thumbs up. At the National Jamboree 2013, the white water rafting will be an optional item with an additional cost - so please sign up for the Jamboree now... and when prompted... be sure to get a few friends and sign up for White Water Rafting. It will just add to the excitement and adventure!
