Thanks everyone for all your birthday wishes. What with email, a blog, texting, Facebook and more, I felt like a Queen for the day. I even got one card in the mail. Imagine that!
I started the day off with my knitting group. I woke up brighter and earlier than usual, so I started going the extra mile for the day. I rediscovered these wonderful black lap trays from my Grandma Grace. She crocheted the doilies to fit the trays. She married in the 1920s, so I can only guess that these could be that old. The dishes are from BF's grandmother. They've been in his family for many generations. I thought they were the perfect complement to the trays.
When I went to Trader Joe's on October 1st, everything was pumpkin. So I joined the celebration of autumn. I bought some pumpkins and miniature mums. I baked some pumpkin cranberry scones from a Trader Joe's mix, a cheddar broccoli quiche from Michele's Pies and some of my homemade cinnamon applesauce. It's officially autumn!
At knitting, Michelle surprised me with the single most chocolatey cake she could find - and I was serenaded with a rendition of Happy Birthday complete with four candles.
And as if that weren't enough, my celebration continues. I'm having dinner with my whole family tonight. I love a celebration that goes on and on and on.
