Go Dog! Go! by Dr. Seuss was Primogeniture's favorite book when he was very little. We read it every day. Our favorite part was the female dog who wore a hat and would ask the male dog "Do you like my hat?" The male dog would reply "No, I do not like your hat." every single time she would try a new hat and ask him again and get the same reply until the very last time she asks if he likes her outlandish party hat. "Why Yes! I do like your hat!" And they drive off into the sunset to live happily ever after.
That's how Primogeniture reacted when I showed him the slouch hat I knit. He liked it. He really liked it. I asked him "Do you mind that it's a light purple?" It's a mix of gray and lilac - but at night it really looked gray. He thought it was fine. Next morning in the daylight, he saw how much lilac there was and didn't like it as much.
Never fear. I have a lot more yarn in my stash. So I knit another slouch hat - aka The Rikke Hat - in a teal blue.
The teal one is perfect. It matches his eyes and is a style he really likes. Plus the fact that this hat is knit entirely in garter stitch makes it extra thick and warm.
Even the dogs liked the hat.
Maybe I'll make matching doggy slouchy hats.
The best part of all? Primogeniture's been wearing his new hat ever since. Aww.
It was such a great hat, I used up the rest of the teal yarn in my stash to knit up another slouch hat.
I highly recommend The Rikke Hat if you're looking for a great slouch hat. Quick. Easy. Warm. Adorable. What more could you want?
