I finished my first quilt last month. Somewhere along the way, the weather was rainy or foggy or overcast and I never took a picture of the finished quilt. Today the skies are blue so I decided to snap some pics outside so you can see my first attempt at a quilt.
Here it is pinned along the deer fence in my back yard. I guess the tall trees are creating too many shadows for a perfect shot - but it's still good.
Here's a close-up. I bought this partially started quilt from Michelle. She had already blocked 1.5 of the nine-square blocks. If you look closely, her blocks are much more precise than mine. It was a great starter quilt - which was exactly the purpose of buying this kit. I'm actually quite pleased with the results. I haven't washed it yet. But when I do, I expect the imperfections will sort of disappear as the rest of the quilt puckers and acquires that homemade goodness we all like so much in quilts.
I machine quilted this piece and it's my first attempt at stippling. I will definitely be using this method again for future quilts. It's fun to do and I like the overall effect.
Keep your fingers crossed when I wash it. There are some very bright colors in this mix.
