Sox in the City

You already know I joined Lauren's Socktoberfest.  What you probably didn't know is that the funniest post every created was to be found on Kathy B's blog yesterday and it's all about sox.  Check it out.  I think you'll get a chuckle.  Thanks Kathy!

Socktoberfest!

Lauren came up with a great idea for October.  Guess what it is...

Socktoberfest_1

I have several skeins of Lorna Laces yarn in kelly green and also purple, plus some self striping sock yarn.  I'm not sure which I'll use for Socktoberfest.  I have to confess I'm not really good at socks.  I made about 4 pairs and I'm getting better, but I still have "holes" in the short row heels.  I signed up for the 3 part sock class in January at Knitting Central - Magic Loop Socks.  I have so many sock patterns and sock pattern books, that I'll have to decide which one to make.  I think I'll be a bit adventurous this time around.

RAOK - Here I come!

I finally got over being "tecnologically challenged" and managed to fully join the RAOK ring.  Now I can perform myriad Random Acts of Kindness to knitters, crocheters and fiber addicts of all types.

Watch out.  The free world is no longer safe.

Almost Ready to Knit Along

Flower_basket_kal2_1

I fell in love with the Flower Basket by Nicky Epstein as soon as I saw it in Vogue Knitting's Winter 2004/2005 issue.  Then I saw the Flower Basket Knit Along on other blogs and knew that would be my first knit along.  Well, yesterday I went to Stitches East and purchased my yarn (except for the 4 skeins of olive).  I am still a little shocked by the price of the yarn and the total investment for the entire bag.  It's so beautiful and I am knitting it solely for myself, so it's OK.  I rarely knit anything for myself and I decided, a la L'Oreal, that I'm worth it.  Until my olive yarn arrives, I'll start knitting the dozen flowers.  I'm really looking forward to knitting this project.

Secret Pals 4

I just joined a new ring - Secret Pals 4 organized by Jacqueline.  Thanks for hosting this SP4!  And... I got in just under the deadline.  Whew!  I'm anxious to participate in a secret pal program as this is my first time.  It should be fun.  Have you participated before?  Do you have any suggestions for making it more successful from my perspective?  I'm all ears.

Oh... Look!  I slept in until 0515 this morning.  Don't worry.  That's normal for me, even on a Saturday.  Now I'm off to get ready for the Saturday Morning Knitting Bee, which, by the way, needs a better name.  Any suggestions?  I'm going to have a naming contest for the SMKB.  I'll have to go look through my stash to come up with a prize.  Contest will end on January 31st - so please send me your suggestions.  The Saturday Morning Knitting Bee awaits your creativity.

Oh... and I'm creating another Oh So Soft Baby Blanket pattern for the Warm Up America project I mentioned yesterday.  I'll be posting pictures of that later.  The pattern should be up by next week.

Happy knitting!
