Everything is blue in this picture - Primogeniture's sweatshirt. Primogeniture's jeans. Primogeniture's hair. Wilma's eyes. It's a blue, blue day around here. I don't have any knitting pictures to share with you, but trust me, I've only made a tiny progress on the navy blue Oh So Soft Baby Blanket. I'll share some more progress when I've used up at least another skein. Baby steps. Baby steps. Itty bitty blue baby steps.
for a non-knitting photo. Here's Wilma playing dress-up with her boys
It's kind of a hectic week here. I'm guessing that you're experiencing a similar back to school rush. I have finished one and a half more chemo-caps-of-the-day and will try to post pictures later. In the meantime, look at Wilma's tongue. That's a sure sign she's having too much fun. She's been eating ice cubes continuously to cool down.
We had a great mini-vacation. But I had to get on the road early this morning. I said good-bye to John and Julie - and their three dogs. Here they are. Rafael - aka Rafey - was my favorite. All three dogs are rescue dogs and are simply adorable. Don't you agree?
Rafey - the Puerto Rican street dog
J.A.C.y - rhymes with Stacy. She's quite a lady.
Lucy - "treat me as if I were a cat" Oh. They have a cat, too, but he was not interested in being photographed.
I commissioned a portrait of Wilma for BF's Christmas gift. I finally got it framed and now it's hanging on the wall. Isn't she a cutie? Her tongue really sticks out like that - all the time.
Here's Primogeniture and Wilma cuddling. Wilma does have a humble side, too. It's not all about being a star. If you want to immortalize your pet - please check out Judy Wolfe's animal portrait site. She's a dear friend and very talented individual.
Stacie cautiously asked me how Wilma was doing. She's fine. In fact, after 3.5 months of pneumonia, she's been given the all-clear by the vet. Whew. I haven't posted many pictures of her because, well, she's generally got devil eyes in the shots. It's nothing worse than that, thank goodness.
See? And the edit feature to remove the red eye doesn't actually work with her, because her eyes aren't red in the pictures. But she is growing and she's a cutie. Her tongue is always hanging out, she had a tremendous Bulldog underbite, and yes, everything else that goes along with being an English Bulldog. If you're not sure what that is, you probably don't want to ask. Suffice it to say that the new air freshener ad I saw on TV this morning featured an English Bulldog. Enough said.
Here's Wilma's tongue, Wilma, and Wilma's Valentine's Day gift from Susan of SNL. C'mon everybody now - AWWWWwwwww. This is Wilma's favorite spot in the whole house - suede bean bag chair. She's no dummy my girly girl.
So thank you Stacie for asking. Wilma's getting more and more spoiled every day and - yes - I have learned to leave my knitting out of her reach - for both of our sakes.
While knitting happily away, I got interrupted by a phone call. I got up to get it and left my sock on the sofa. That was my first mistake. This is what I came back to one minute later.
Wilma! Oh noooooooo! What have you done?
It's a good thing that I have umpteen pairs of US Size 1 dpns. I didn't even spaz out on Wilma. She did get reprimanded though as I tried desperately to keep my cool. In the end, I thought to myself, "It's OK. You can fix it." And... thankfully, I did. All is well in sock world and Wilma has been forgiven.
MORAL OF THE STORY: I'll never leave my socks poised precariously on the sofa again - even for a second.
We woke up to our first snow of the season this morning. Here's the view of my street.
While this was the first snow of the season for the rest of the family, it was the first snow of Wilma's life. Here she is frolicking in the fluffy white stuff.
She didn't quite know what to make of it.
Don't worry Wilma. It's 12:00 noon and all the snow has already melted. Since you have dog memory, you'll think next time is the first snow, too.
Remember this adventure in felting that Jen and I had in January? Neither one of us quite knew what to do with our oversized felted bags that we dubbed "Big Boy". We received numerous suggestions from wastebins, to cutting and needle felting them into more manageable sized bags. The suggestions were fantastic, but I just didn't have the energy to do anything with my felted disaster until now. I figured if I could make Wendy's Kitty Pi Bed for Blackie (who now lives with my Ex), then Wilma deserved my felting affection as well.
It's Wilma in her crate with a felted doggie bed! Ingenious creativity never ends around here.
Our friend Judy came to visit this weekend while I was working the Creative Arts Festival. She's an amazing animal photographer and she graced us with a composition of Wilma pictures which I share with you.
While I can't promise you that Judy will come to your house and photograph your pet, she does paint animal portraits on commission. If you're interested, you should definitely check out Judy's website for animal portraits and see if she'll immortalize your four-legged friend in paint.
My actual birthday is next Monday, but before my birthday arrives, I have one final detail of BF's birthday to take care of before moving on to my day. I took the ferry to Long Island to pick up BF's birthday gift which was finally old enough to leave her mother. Introducing Wilma.
She's an English Bulldog and I swear she's the finest specimen ever seen. I'm sure that this is true and not just my biased opinion. Ain't she sweet?
