Knitaly

Of course, you know I couldn't travel, even on my honeymoon, without acquiring a bit of yarn.  With the help of the ever-observant BF, I discovered a yarn shop in every town we went.

Honeymoon_in_italy_2008_001

LellaBella in Venice.  It was a lovely knitting shop and I'm so glad we went.

Honeymoon_in_italy_2008_159

BF spotted this knitting shop in Florence as we headed toward the Ponte Vecchio.  We went in and I purchased 3 skeins of yarn.  The woman was very rude and said "Please to not touch the yarn" (in Italian).  I was ready to walk out then.  It's a good thing I got this happy picture first.

Honeymoon_in_italy_2008_258

In Rome I wandered into this teeny tiny knitting store - but there were 2 other customers in line in front of me and aside from some nice cashmere, there was nothing that caught my eye (considering I had limited luggage space) except this door handle.  It's a ceramic skein of yarn!  How creative.  This alone was worth the stop.

Honeymoon_in_italy_2008_336

In Ostia Lido (the airport hotel's location) I didn't find a knitting store, but I did purchase three knitting magazines in Italian.  Here's a picture of the sum of my knitting purchases in Italy.

The Stockings Were Hung...

Elizabeth came over and helped me jazz up the Knit Nook for the holidays.  She's amazing and really helped me make the room pop with knitting nerve.  We even hung up the stockings in true holiday spirit.

December_2007_055

I don't have the right thing yet to hang over the fireplace mantle.  I really want to find an original one of these in good shape to frame and hang in my Knit Nook.  Appropriate, no?

Curious George is doing his part and is even learning how to knit.

My 11 1/2 inch doll collection (otherwise known as Barbies) are also standing tall to show their pride.

That's my Marine Corps Barbie in her Dress Blues standing with the knitwear models.  The Marine Corps is a common theme in my Knit Nook (and my life) as seen by my American Girl Doll who is showing off her camouflage sweater in support of our troops.

Hmmm.  Brown hair, glasses, camouflage sweater, jeans and boots.  Does she look like anyone you know?

December_2007_058

I have a gorgeous throw by Elizabeth draped over my chair.  Isn't it lovely?  And speaking of lovely...

What's a little Unfinished Object between friends?  My nephew would really like to wear this for Christmas.  I know.  I know.

Here's also some proof of actual sweaters knit by yours truly.  It has been known to happen.

Here's my knitting needle display case.  It's still one of my favorite finds on ebay. I think it adds extra character to the Knit Nook.  I love my special place.  It's a breeding ground for creativity!

Shopping Spree at my LYS

I went to my LYS, Knitting Central, to use my gift certificate from my Boy Scout Troop.  The Scouts and families were so generous that I was able to plan for 2 big knitting projects.

Beverly_katz_001

First, you can see two scrumptious skeins of Lobster Pot cashmere - for a pair of socks.  I also got a new camouflage Go Knit Pouch (my original one finally kicked the bucket).  The second project will go in the larger red Knit Pouch.  It's going to be the sampler blanket.  I ordered 20 skeins of Debbie Bliss Cashmerino Aran so that I could make an adult size one of these.

A Dream Come True

This afternoon Jenny and I unpacked the amazing yarn donations from Justine and Kathleen.  I can't tell you in words how amazing their donation was.  I guess I should just show you some of the pictures.  I don't even think I managed to photograph it all.  We did find space on the shelves in the Knit Nook for all this luxurious yarn.  My Knit Nook is beginning to look more and more like my own personal LYS.

I'll start by showing you the most amazing part of all.  Two patterns for Kaffe Fassett sweaters...

Img_2258

...and the complete yarn necessary to make each sweater.  It's definitely a dream come true.

Img_2245

Here are some glimpses of some of the rest of the yarn they donated.  There is a great deal of baby yarn, mohair, some luxurious Odyssey that I plan on knitting into thick warm socks for myself, and so much more.  Thank you Kathleen and Justine.  You are generous beyond words.

Bad Basket Idea

I thought I needed some baskets for my Knit Nook, so I went to Pottery Barn and purchased these

Img_1817

They're too dark and give the Knit Nook the wrong look.  I'll be taking them back... but darn it if I haven't already lost my receipt.  Ugh!

Picture Perfect

As if I didn't make you green with envy with my last addition, look at this find

Img_1804

It's a magazine ad from 1948 for the Hero Standard knitting needle stand I bought last month.  See it in the ad?  I'm going to frame this and put it right by the Hero Standard display case.

Do you think I can get a waist that size to go with my display case?  Just asking.

Vintage Knitting Treasure

Look what I got in the mail!  It's a wooden knitting needle storage box.

Img_1805

Isn't it just perfect for my Knit Nook?  I'm really having a wonderful time finding the right things for my special room.  Now I just need the perfect baskets to hide some of the yarn.  Yes.  You heard me correctly.  Some of the yarn needs to be out of sight.  I'm not ashamed of it.  Not really.  I just want the room to look like the place you'd want to enter and never leave.

A Pleasure Doing Business With You

I just got my latest ebay acquisition in the mail.  A lot of vintage knitting needles from Nancy's Attic.  Look how adorable she packaged them!  Isn't Nancy - aka - DustyAtticDreams -  the sweetest ebayer ever?

Progress in the Knit Nook

I'm starting to fill the shelves in my Knit Nook and try to figure out the best way to decorate it so it looks inviting and tasteful.  I'm sure there will be many false starts and reiterations, but so far I'm starting with some glass jars filled with knitting and sewing notions or buttons.

Img_1580

I also have an addition made by Secundogeniture when he was in kindergarten.  I love the wonderful things kids can do with Kleenex boxes!

My Great Knitting Find!

Look at this great antique treasure that I found for the Knit Nook.

Img_1577

It's a Hero Standard commercial display stand from the 1940s.  It's the perfect addition to my new knitting room.  It was in quite a state when it arrived, but after hours and hours of elbow grease (and Mr. Clean), a few days baking in the bright sun (Sunshine is the BEST disinfectant) and then a few more hours of rubbing lemon oil with beeswax into the parched wood and I have a treasure in my Knit Nook.  I'm so thrilled!

Major Knitter Did it in the Red Room with the Knitting Needles

The painting is completed in my new Knit Nook.  I'm so thrilled.  In fact, I'm tickled pink.  See?

April_2007_030_2

For those of you who asked - this was really a gift to me from BF - not a big home decorating makeover contest.  Neither BF nor I liked the room in its former state and I wanted a craft room somewhere in the house.  This room made the most sense.  I am very slow to make decisions when it comes to permanent or semi-permanent changes to the house - - so I labored over the color of this room, the way it should properly be set up, and then the actual first step.  The best part about being deliberate in the process is that I'm so deeply pleased with the long anticipated result.  I couldn't be happier.  Now I have to fill the shelves and add the appropriate knitting and crafting notions to the room to give it my stamp.

I've Won a Craft Room Makeover

You've seen glimpses of the unused and much despised library where Curious George sits.  But you're about to see it all the time.  As soon as the boys left for school, the painters arrived and the metamorphosis from library to craft room began.  First I had to clear out all the books, pictures, thingamajigs and knitting paraphernalia from the room.  Now it looks like this:

April_2007_011_2 April_2007_010_3

April_2007_012_2 .

.

.

.

I am so excited to brighten up this room and turn it into MY SPACE!  It's going to be my favorite place on earth.  I hope you'll enjoy it, too.  Can you just imagine the yarn spilling off the shelves like my own private yarn store?  I'm tingling with excitement.  What shall I call my craft room?  It's going to be painted a bright red with the white shelves and lots of colorful yarn.

The Truth is So Hard to Hear

I decided to try my hand at an argyle pattern for my next Project Compassion swatch.  I figured out the graph (Download the excel spreadsheet here - Download Argyle.xls) and decided to go find the worsted weight washable yarn I knew I had.  I looked in the closet yarn bins.  I looked in the dresser drawer.  I didn't see the yarn.

I quickly announced to BF - "I'm going to the yarn stash to get some yarn."

To which he replied, "Which stash?"

Ouch.  So true.  So true.

I was heading to the mother-of-all-yarn-stashes in the basement, of course.

I didn't even tell you about the yarn stash in the antique icebox in the garage.

When Knitting Has its Own Budget Category

You know you knit too much when you have to allocate a Knitting category to your annual budget.  Yup.  You heard me correctly.  I spend more on yarn than on shoes (but less than on groceries for BF and the boys - thank goodness).  It's time to take Wendy's 2007 challenge

Kfys2007

My New Year's resolution is to knit from my stash.  If you want to follow Wendy's rules - click here.

Wish me luck.  My stash is getting out of hand.  Just before Christmas I went to Knitting Central where I fondled some dark blue Koigu and dreamt of a sweater that I might actually knit for myself.  Then Sally helped me snap out of it by asking me what I knit with the last batch of Koigu I purchased for myself a while back.  YIKES!  I had totally forgotten about that purchase and yet it lies in wait in my stash.

On My Front Doorstep

Look what was waiting for me on my doorstep last night when I got home?

July_2006_078

It's the yarn and pattern from KnitPicks to start my fair isle sweater for my nephew.  Wow!  Look at all that color!  I can hardly wait to get started, but I don't want to abandon my Almost Argyle socks.  Decisions.  Decisions.

Buying Even More Yarn for Stash Buster Scarves

I went back to Knitting Central today to pick up some more skeins of pink yarn for a Stash Buster scarf.  This time I took the main pink "Delight" yarn to try to match the shades of pink a little better.

More_pink_yarn_002

I'm using the pink Cascade from yesterday to make another American Girl Doll sweater.  I hope to have it ready to show you tomorrow.  Maybe I'll finish the sweater and have some progress made on a stash buster scarf, too.

Not Quite the Yarn Haul I Expected for Today

Since we didn't get to go to Rhinebeck, Lynda and I spent the morning knitting and hanging out.  In the afternoon, to make up for our lack of of fibre purchases, we made a trip to The Rag Shop in Norwalk to get some Caron "Simply Soft" for baby blankets.  I had never tried this yarn before and I must confess that it's the softest acrylic I think I've ever seen.  Have you tried it?  What do you think?  I plan on making a baby blanket that mixes all four pastel colors with a white border.  This way I'll be ready to gift someone with a baby gift in the future.  You can never have too many handknit baby gifts in reserve.  I find it's easier to have the baby blankets ready than to make them to order.  I can't explain why... it's just the way it is for me.

Soft_yarn_002

I also picked up two sets of dpns in bamboo by Susan Bates.  I didn't know they made bamboo needles.  I think it must be something new.  The buttons are a possible embellishment for the pink flowers for the Amazing Grace brown ballerina wrap with pink flower accents.  I thought these buttons might be nice little centers.

Opera!

Julie sent me a link to this lovely lacy pattern for the Opera Scarf designed by Deb Peterson for Blue Sky Alpacas so I ran off to Knitting Central to buy the yarn and some new Lantern Moon needles (because now that I'm obsessed with them, I feel I can only knit using these sleek nifty needles).

Here's what I bought:

October_1_022

While the pattern only calls for one hank of Blue Sky Alpacas "Alpaca & Silk" and size 8 needles, I tend to knit tight... so my scarf came out to only 4.5 inches wide.  I went back to the store and got another hank of yarn and 2 more pairs of Lantern Moon needles in sizes 10 and 10.5.  Did I mention that I'm obsessed with these needles?  While I was there I was gently lured to these hanks of buttery yellow and ebony in pashmina cashmere.  I may have overindulged a bit, but to tell you the truth, I've never (really, I swear), never knit with cashmere and I decided it was about time to try.

Checking Things Off the List

I have been in overdrive this past week based upon a decision to get a move on and actually finish the things on my neverending To Do List.  I've been to every doctor for every check-up that I never seemed to have time to schedule when I was working full time.  I've also reviewed all my insurance, my legal documents, my taxes, my files, and more.  It's amazing how much you can get done when you put your mind to it.

Well, that's how I found myself in Stratford, CT today just a mere mile from Janet Kemp's yarn store.  In fact, after I finished with my attorney, I rewarded myself with a trip to visit Janet's store.  Janet is really such a lovely individual.  If you haven't been to her store yet, please go visit her and browse around her store. In fact, go this weekend.  She's scheduled this amazing Renaissance Knitting Faire for Friday-Sunday with all sorts of incredible activities for the whole family.  It looks like a great time.  I hope I'll be able to swing up for a visit.  OK... now down to the details you've been waiting for.  Here's a peek at what I bought.

Sp5_gifts_013a_2

I bought some Berroco Suede and Plush to make some baby booties for my friends' new babies.  I'm going to make the Knitty Gritty Ugg Baby Booties because they're just the cutest darned things I've ever seen.

Sp5_gifts_016a

And I bought one skein of pink Fiesta to make a final gift (yes, it's a bit late) for my SP5.  I hope to finish it by tomorrow - Finishing Friday - so I can share it with you.

And... I bought a set of Turbo Addi US 13 plus all this soothing blue and lilac yarn to make the Berroco Mai Tai for my niece.

Sp5_gifts_014a

Well, that's it.  Quite a reward, don't you think?  I'm so excited to start knitting these projects and share them with you.

Knitting Related Storage

I am so surprised.  Totally surprised.  Really.  My son and I went to the town dump as I promised earlier.  It was our reality check after our weekend at the Hamptons.  First of all, the Iowa girl in me couldn't get over how civilized the town dump really was.  It's not a landfill (of course not, silly Iowa girl - this is Westport, afterall).  It's a really cool oversized trash compactor.  And get this - it was free.  Yes.  FREE.  Wow.  I had been avoiding taking things to the dump because I was used to a load of trash in the SUV costing about $20 to dump.  That just seemed sort of silly to spend money to throw something away, so I tried to sneak things in the garbage cans little by little to see if they would be taken away.  Finally, I had some things that just had to go.  So I took them.  Of course, I went in my shorts, blouse and glass bead adorned little sandals.  Not the smartest fashion statement for the dump.  Actually, maybe it was.  A man helped my son and me unload our trash.  There were other customers, but I must have appeared to be the damsel in distress.

As we left I told my son.  "You know, you'll never find another woman quite like your Mom."

I think he was inwardly chanting "Thank God for that!"

I followed it up with a little thought "How many women actually go to the dump, like it and get excited because it's so cool and FREE?"

His eyes rolled.  But seriously, he was quite the trooper and mother's big helper today.  We got a great deal of stuff done today including one yarn related purchase.  I went to Linen N' Things to get 10 Yaffa Blocks to store my OOCOYS (Out of Control Overflowing Yarn Stash).  Ah... I remember the days when I would have thought one of these containers filled with a few skeins of yarn was an out of control yarn stash.  Sigh.  I was so naive then.

Sock It Away!

I'm heading out for a week to visit my family in Iowa.  I've been trying to figure out what knitting projects to pack for the trip.  I want enough to keep me occupied for two 7-hour trips, plus any down time I might have while at home.  I don't want the projects to take up too much room.  Finally, I want it to be a project on bamboo needles for easier security scrutiny.  That eliminates the BF sweater... turbo addi needles and it's a big heavy sweater at this point.

Cimg2375

I decided to work on a few pairs of socks.  So, I ran to Knitting Central and bought 2 more skeins of sock yarn - Lorna's Laces - in a pretty kelly green.  That felt like a nice spring color.  I guess I'm all set for the trip.  Now I just have to pack.

Chocolate Brown for MOI?

Look at what I picked up today?

Cimg2333_1

BF's mom gave me a gift certificate at Christmas time to my LYS, Knitting Central, and I couldn't figure out what to get with it.  I wanted it to be something that would be for me, but as you know, I rarely knit for myself.  Finally, I decided to do something that is so contrarian, so rare, so out of the ordinary for myself... I ordered BROWN yarn for a sweater for me.  Now, since I have brown hair and brown eyes, I think this will look great, but since I got "color swatched" decades ago and was told I shouldn't wear brown, I have never given it a second thought.  I decided that it was time to change all that.  I bought 9 skeins of Cascade 220 in brown and picked them up today.  Now I just need to decide what to make with it.  I'm leaning towards a ribbed turtleneck sweater.  What do you think?

Thanks Ronni!

Cup o' Joe

E-gads it's early!  Once again I find myself waking up at 0430 on a weekend morning.  What's up with that?  Actually, I'm designing and knitting a sweater for the American Girl Doll  to be raffled off at the elementary school Bingo night that Tara from the knitting bee is organizing.  I realized that I am actually knitting on size US#1 needles and might not have enough time to finish it before Bingo on Friday night.  Perhaps I'll make up another pattern with a thicker yarn and finish this complicated cable sweater at my leisure.  Sigh!

So... my coffee is ready, and my eyes are finally open.   I wanted to share a little bit of the knitting focused day I had yesterday.

First off - the Saturday Morning Knitting Bee (which is about to have a new name thanks to all of you who have submitted names for the contest).  I put on the pot of coffee and baked these delicious raspberry scones.  Another commuter and fellow Westporter - Susan Eaton - joined us today for the SMKB.  Guess what she was gracious enough to bring?  SCONES!  Great minds think alike.  That's all I can say.  There was a lot of good karma going around because without coordinating, she brought her scones in a heart shaped basket with a heart printed napkin which matched my Valentine's Day theme perfectly.

Cimg1383_1 Cimg1384

Then, BF and I went in to the city to visit a good friend.  Our friend lives in ultra cool, way too hip for me, SoHo.  I felt so gauche walking down the streets with the hipsters.  Oh well.  Little do they know I have this exciting blogging life.  Anyway, after a delicious Milanesa Steak at Novecento, we walked around SoHo, where, oddly enough, my internal compass set an azimuth straight to Purl - imagine that!

The store is beautiful, hip, quaint, floor to nearly ceiling with wonderful pure fibers.  It was a color fest and a fiber fest.  The guys are so funny when I drag them into a knitting store (which, by the way, I do with a certain amount of frequency).  They are both non-knitters and the conversation overheard goes something like this:

  • Non-knitting Guy #1 - So, when are you going to start knitting?
  • Non-knitting Guy #2 - I don't knit.  It's not for me.
  • Lady nearby supresses a smile
  • Non-knitting Guy #2 - Now needlepoint, that's for me.
  • Non-knitting Guy #1 - Come on.   When are you going to knit?
  • Non-knitting Guy #2 - You know, some people who can knit, don't
  • Lady nearby chuckles
  • Non-knitting Guy #1 - I think this yarn requires a needle number 6, don't you?
  • Non-knitting Guy #2 - I would use weighted bamboo needles in a size four.
  • Cell phone - Ring!  Ring!  It's an important call for Non-knitting Guy #1 and thus the end of men who don't knit conversation.

Anyway, Purl has the best selection of Koigu that I've found.  I bought 5 skeins of yarn and several circular knitting needles.  I'm in a new phase of knitting called the "MICROSCOPIC PHASE" as my BF likes fine knits.  Wendy - HELP!  He wants sweaters knit on 1s and 2s!!!

Then we went back to our friend's loft apartment to just hang out.  I couldn't resist.  I grabbed a new skein of pink Koigu Premium Merino, some needles and my black cable hat.  I started repeating the cable pattern (or rather trying to figure out how to re-knit the cable pattern) to fit an American Girl Doll.  It was great fun to figure out the mystery.  I made the black cable hat in the days when I didn't write down patterns, so I had to reinvent the wheel, so to speak.  Anyway, while I was sitting on this gorgeous, soft, comfy, warm and inviting flannel sofa in Non-Knitting Guy #1's apartment, I opened the hank of pink Koigu and laid it across my legs.  (OK, honestly I draped it across my open knees... but that just doesn't sound very ladylike to write.  You get the picture).  While I was winding the yarn into a ball, both Non-Knitting Guys asked me this question:

Why don't they just sell the yarn the way you want it?

Good question.  Anyone got an answer?  We could only come up with 2 answers.

  1. It's therapeutic to wind the yarn
  2. The yarn ships easier in hanks

What do you think?

So, on the train I knit several swatches

  • swatch for BF's first sweater with a criss cross pattern
  • cable cap in a variegated Koigu Kersti All (with a provisional cast on)
  • worked on the aforementioned pink American Girl Doll project

Here's what I scored at Purl - blue, green and purple variegated Koigu Kersti for a cable cap, pink Koigu Merino Wool for the American Girl Doll sweater, a surprise for another blogger whose favorite NYC knitting store is Purl...

Cimg1391_5

Plus these Addi Turbo circular needles US sizes 0-4Cimg1385

Oh My God!  How did I accidentally buy this size?  Who knew they sold something in a size called 000.  That's TRIPLE ZERO size.  Oh boy.  Oh boy.  This is scary.

Cimg1389

I think I need a nap.  Zzzzzzzz.

Knitting Central on Sunday

Sunday was errand day in Westport and I stopped at my favorite LYS - Knitting Central to buy some more yarn for 2 more Jazzed Up Denim Jackets.  I also purchased the pattern for this little capelet.

Cimg0755

Oh... and look what Cynthia and Rick gave out as little holiday thank yous - - nifty little tins of yummy mints.  When the mints are gone, I think I might use the tin for little notions (stitch markers, darning needles, buttons, etc).  Yum!

Fiber Felicidades

Well, while driving around in Sao Paulo, I rode right past this beautiful store with nothing but a rainbow of yarn in the window. I asked the driver to remember the location so I could go back Monday morning. He took me back and I snapped several photos outside the store - anxious to purchase some sumptuous fibers during my trip.

Cimg0204

Well, the bad news, or rather disappointing news, is that the beautiful yarns in the store window, were merely decorative. Oh! Such heartache! The store - Via Roca - Arte em Tear - roughly translated to "Country Way - Tapestry Art" sold hand woven placemats, rugs and other houseware items. Unfortunately, those beautiful natural fibers were not for sale as individual hanks.

Yarn Stash Sutra

My friend Julie reassured me that my yarn stash is OK. In fact she reminded me of Cari's post of April 21st at Dogs Steal Yarn about Yarn Guilt? and I agree. I just forget sometimes. I admit I can easily get out of control with my yarn shopping, so I like to keep it in check at least a little. Sometimes I find that I'm more creative when I'm using up yarn that I no longer even remember what I was planning on knitting at the time of purchase.

It is OK to buy yarn.
It is OK to stash yarn.
It is OK to be creative with yarn from your infinite stash.
It is OK to donate yarn.
It is OK to accumulate yarn.
It is OK to trade yarn.
It is OK to just look at all the wonderful yarn in your stash and dream of what it might become.

Anyway, thanks Julie for the reminder.

Thanks Cari - who is on her honeymoon - you are a "stashing" inspiration!

Happy knitting!
Happy stashing!

Yarn Stash

Here is my conundrum. I have managed to accumulate so much yarn, that my own personal yarn stash is beginning to look like a full time knitting store. I have bags everywhere. I have plastic storage containers full of yarn stacked to high heaven in the basement. Should I just put little machines on my elbows and start knitting in turbo mode until the yarn has become "manageable" once again?

What's a girl to do?

Any suggestions?

Yarn Stash from Last Weekend

Finally! Here are some pictures of my latest yarn purchases. OK. OK. Time to stop. Time to knit. You might not see any photos of forays to fiber shops for a while. I hope you won't be too disappointed. I got some beautiful yarn at Janet Kemp's store in Stratford. What do you think?

Knitting Store Run

Well, Tara, Regina and I got together this morning for our regular knitting bee, except it was anything but normal. We had breakfast at The Commuter Cafe in Westport. Then we made a unanimous decision to change our original plans of heading into Manhattan and go to a Japanese designer fiber show room since it's 9/11 and all. Instead, we went to Stratford and went to Janet Kemp's store. I bought a bag of yarn to start, finish, and create some new projects.

Picture coming soon.

$90 a skein and I got knots!#$@%&*!

I'm getting ready to head out to Abbondanza for the 9:00 a.m. knitting bee. I gathered my yarns, patterns, needles, accessories and then I went to my knitting stash from last week's shopping spree at The Knitting Niche and decided to wind the beautiful hank of "Cool Stuff" in Marina (navy blue tones) from Prism Yarn. Imagine my surprise and disappointment when I realized that this hank of yarn was really about 10 different yarns cut in approximately 3-5 yard lengths and then KNOTTED together. I was really furious. For the $90 a skein I could have bought the 10 different skeins of novelty yarn, cut and knotted them together myself. For about $200-$300 I would have ended up with more like 6-8 skeins of a combined yarn (which would bring the cost down to $40-$50 a skein). I guess I'm really more mad at myself than anything else. I shouldn't have been so naive. I really hate spending good money on a fancy yarn and then discovering it's full of knots. It's my number one knitting pet peeve. Well, the yarn is beautiful. Hopefully, it will knit up so blissfully that I'll forget my frustration.

As I told Kathleen yesterday, I took my boys and spent the rainy day running errands. My last stop of the day was to the yarn store in Stratford, CT to stock up on supplies. The boys were great. They were pretty patient with Mom while I kept piling yarn and supplies on the checkout counter. Janet was great. She kept helping me find new pattern ideas and yarns. I was totally out of control! I have several new projects to start. I guess that's good since I was on a purging spree and had nearly decimated my stash. Now I've got at least 6 weeks of yarn. Woohoo!
