Today was our big stockpile day. BF and I went out to Jo-Anns and Wal-Mart. We stocked up on DMC floss for more Santa ornaments (but unfortunately, only about half the colors were in stock!); and then we headed over to Wal-Mart to stock up on all our paper supplies for the year.
I am going to repeat a lot of the Santa ornaments from years past... and also create some of my own. The hardest part was finding the plain white 14 mesh plastic canvas. Fortunately, Jo-Ann's had some, so I bought 6 sheets - which is enough for 36 ornaments. I think I'm set for the next several years.
Unfortunately, I was only able to cross off about half my required DMC floss colors for both the Santa ornaments and some new heirloom Christmas stockings. I think I'll have to make another trip to Milford and check out the Michael's (oddly enough, right across the street from Jo-Ann's) and see if they have any floss in stock.
I'll spare you pictures of the newly acquired stash of toilet paper, kleenex, garbage bags, etc. But suffice it to say that I LOVE being stocked up on non-perishable supplies. How about you - what do you buy in bulk (aside from yarn)?
I live in Milford and frequent Joann's, Michael's and AC Moore in Orange. I am making the run next week (1/2 or 1/3) and will save you a trip if you email me the numbers. I am due to go to Westport Yarn so I could bring them down there. Let me know. pobrien413@aol.com Everyone laughs at me because I stock up on TP, paper towels, garbage bags, etc. Pat

The Trader Joe's I go to is about an hour from my house, so when I make it there I get stocked up on honey, maple syrup, olive oil, "two buck" chuck (aka cheap wine), and Pirate Booty.
Happy New Year, Carolyn in NC

I like to be stocked up to. Feels so good to come home and load up all the cupboards etc. I was working on a scrapbook for Gloria's 50th (late I know but she got it this year anyway!) and was looking through the Kmors-Huffman book by Jeanette Huffman Keyes. Her memories are so amazing and precious.

I love reading your blog! Could you share with us some instructions and pictures for how you make the ornaments with DMC floss and canvas? You might have already showed this and I just don't remember. Hugs to Wilma! She is so cute!

We aren't really "bulk" buyers.
If you can't find some of the floss you need, let me know what colors. Maybe I can find them here and send them to you.
Happy New Year.
